Photos: Eden Hall Farm

18 October 2008

I dusted off my camera and took off before the crack of dawn this morning to Eden Hall Farm, my school’s newest acquisition. It’s a neat campus, very green and leafy this time of year, outside of the city enough to be refreshing but not so far away that I can’t afford to Zipcar it. Eden Hall belonged to Sebastian Mueller, businessman and equestrian (no wonder I like the place), once upon a time and there are a lot of cool old farm buildings and stable areas.

I don’t know when there was last horses on the property, but it still smells like the stalls ought to be full – like hay and wood and dirt and fresh air. (Is there anything more sad to a horse person than an empty stall?) Vaguely creepy, I’ll admit, and as I wandered around by myself in the early dark I momentarily regretted my decision to go alone. The big main barn was closed up and I’d promised not to fool around in any of the buildings, so no shots of the incredibly eerie stable in there.

But still, I went and I enjoyed it and I got some pictures out of the whole experience.
